Here's the prescription, take a val. I personally erred when I treated Ian without due courtesy in the midst of a thread that had turned political. For my lack of courtesy, I offer an apology.

I don't apologize for my views, however. If it's an informed debate that comes down, it doesn't show respect to be flippant. Issues that effect my home, family, income and freedom are, pardon the phrase, dead serious to me. They also probably have little place on this board.

Most of us, by osmosis, get the drift of others posts, be they sincere or sarcastic and generally most threads seem to flow along in the vein in which they were intended. If there's a problem, it's that we seem to be too apologetic in our communication skills...for fear of offending someone.

...but if you get into a pissing contest, don't complain about getting your shoes wet.

hey earl,

absolutely no apology necessary! i was given 'er too. race, politics and religion are hot buttons. why would it be any different here? better driven by passion on these matters than to be an apathetic wallflower.

more conversation = less ignorance and intolerance.

btw, i'm as equally comfortable in chest waders as i am in hiking shoes, so piss away ; )
